Korean History Part 6 (During the Japanese colonial period)

The reason for the Japanese colonial period is the result of a combination of various causes and situations. Below, we listed the main reasons

1. Imperialism and colonial expansion: Japan has been developing imperialist national desires since the end of the 19th century, and Japan, which has been pushed out of competition with Western powers, has attempted to expand its national power to strengthen its national power. Joseon was considered an attractive colony for Japan because it was geographically adjacent to Japan and had a strategic importance.

2. Searching for foreign roles and East Asian imperialism: Japan pursued East Asian imperialism to strengthen the state of the Western powers. Through Joseon, there was an intention to gain dominance in East Asia and to gain an edge in competition with China.

3. Economic exploitation and resource securing: Joseon was considered economic interests and resource sources for Japan. Japan has exploited the land and resources of Joseon, developing its own economy, and dominating Joseon as a colony for the purpose of securing raw materials for industrialization of Japan.

4. Inner problems of weakened Joseon: Joseon had many problems internally. There were weak governing systems and institutions, unstable social structures, inequalities of man and farmers, economic and military weakness, and these internal problems made it easy to accept Japan's invasion.

5. These various factors were combined to enable Japan's colonial rule, and in 1910, the Japanese colonial period began.

During the Japanese colonial period (1910-1945), various major characters led or influenced Korea's independence movement and anti-Japanese movement. Below, we introduce the main characters:

1. Chang -Ho Ahn: The Korea Independence Association was established and led the "Hangul Movement" to enhance the Korean culture and national awareness.

2. Yoon Bong -gil: The new history of the new history was launched at a Japanese restaurant in Hiroshima, Japan, and was recognized as a resistance to Japanese colonial rule.

3. Lee Bong -chang: He led the Central Association and the Korea Foundation Association, leading the independence movement and promoting anti -Japanese resistance.

4. Ahn Jung -geun: During the Japanese colonial period, he assassinated Hirobumi Ito, a lower social leader who visits the Japanese shrine at the Blue House library for the East Asian world peace.

5. Park Young -hyo: The independent newspaper was launched to support the independence movement and the anti -Japanese movement.

6. Kim Gu: As a pivotal person of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea, he led the anti -Japanese independence movement.

7. Kim Won -bong: I worked as a comment on the Provisional Government, and organized an independent army to develop an anti -Japanese movement.

8. Yoo Kwan -soon: As one of the leaders of the 3.1 Movement, he played an independence movement with the students and was recognized as a national hero during the Japanese colonial period.

In addition, many independence activists, scholars, resistance leaders, and journalists were active during the Japanese colonial period, and they made great achievements in Korea's independence movement and anti -Japanese resistance.

Some of the main events during this period were listed below.

1. Declaration of the Korean Empire (1910): On August 29, 1910, Japan merged Joseon and proclaimed the "Korean Empire" and began to rule Joseon as a colony.

2. Masan Port Bomb Incident (1920): A Japanese police exploded the port on charges that Koreans in the Masan Port are doing an independence movement.

3. Independence Movement Activities (1919): On March 1, 1919, the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea challenged, and the national independence movement broke out. This incident is known as the 3.1 movement, and many protests, riots and slaughter have occurred.

4. Gamhae History Incident (1931): Japanese police organized the Korean -American, a Korean -American private organization in Japan to suppress the independence movement. Many independence activists were arrested and tortured, and anti -Japanese nationalism about Japan spread further.

5. Japanese colonial rule: Japan treated Joseon as a colony through economic exploitation, Korean language control, forced recruitment, and school education. Koreans were discriminated against and oppressed by Japanese and were forced to speak Japanese language and culture.

In addition, there were numerous events and oppression during the Japanese colonial period, and independence movements, massacre, forced recruitment, and economic exploitation were representative events and social phenomena. These events have formed the history of the independence movement of Korea and the nationalist movement and deeply embraced Korean national consciousness.

On August 15, 1945, shortly after the Japanese colonial period, Japan acknowledged the defeat, and the Japanese emperor made a "emperor's transparent" that announced the end of war, including famine, and the defeat of Japan. As a result, Japanese colonial rule ended.

Immediately after the Japanese colonial period, Joseon was divided into the occupied areas of the United States and the Soviet Union while free from Japan's colony. The US military occupied South Korea on August 28, and the Soviet troops occupied North Korea since August 15.

On September 8, 1945, the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea, known as Liberation Day, declared independence. Since then, Korean nationalists and independence activists have worked together to work for Korea's independence and state construction.

However, the Korean peninsula was then divided and the conflict between the two Koreas was deepened.

Immediately after the Japanese colonial period, the era of independence and national construction in Korea was faced with the defeat and liberation of Japan, but Korea has gone through the process of later historical challenges and unification.
